VideoLogic DigiTheatre Review - By Mark "Frugal" Bush Page 1 of 2
Once upon a time all we needed was a little pair of cheap powered speakers for our PC. With today’s 6 channel sound cards 2 speakers is no longer enough, these days our pc’s have become complete home entertainment systems requiring much more powerful speaker solutions. Enter VideoLogic’s DigiTheatre range of speakers. The DigiTheatre comes in a range of flavours starting with the
DigiTheatre LC
The DigiTheatre LC is a complete 5.1 speaker system to complement your 4 or 6 channel sound card or even your DVD player. The two front satellites house a two way system with a 2 inch tweeter and a 4 inch woofer which is split horizontally in the centre allowing the top half to be rotated slightly to increase the sound coverage. The two rear satellites each have a single 4 inch speaker driver and the centre speaker has a 3 inch speaker driver. The subwoofer has a 6.5 inch driver. The amplifier is housed within the subwoofer. DigiTheatre PC
The DigiTheatre PC includes the speaker set from the LC but also includes the SonicFury sound card (reviewed HERE). This really is a nice combination that totally transformed my PC. Being a gamer at heart my first instinct was to fire up Falcon 4. This was pretty cool with the subwoofer really rumbling when the afterburners kicked in. The depth and quality of the sound really made a big difference. Falcon 4 does not have the best 3D sound so I loaded up IL2 which has excellent 3D sound. All I can say is WOW, the sound through these speakers was amazing. When another plane did a high speed head on pass I nearly fell out of my chair. Next it was into Operation Flash Point. Here the sound was more than just ear candy. It really made a difference being able to hear clearly which direction shots were being fired from.
