Aimsworth Press Release - New product line up for 2002
Bangkok 04/01/2002
Finally! After more than six months of preparation, help from our supporters (thanks to you gals & guy’s of the Aimsworth Research Group: Gwen, Steve, Jerry, Dan, Stewie, Rick, Adolfo and my buddies Sukit a.k.a. “Smart” and Prohm a.k.a. “Rama”), we are now able to reveal what has been going at Aimsworth over the past few months, and what you can expect to see from us in the near future.
Many of you may have heard about our products on the Simpits group at groups.Yahoo.com, SimHQ.com, frugalsword.com or just heard from members of the ARG about Aimsworth. We've been quiet for a while now, and we've been busy! We think the time has arrived to show the world a few tasty bits of things to come!
A bit of background may be in order, though, if we are new to you...
Our first F-16 replica cockpit was a success in many ways. Along the way, we received many positive comments regarding how we could improve our product. Since the start of the Aimsworth Research Group project in March 2001, we were able to identify many areas for potential improvements.
One of the biggest problems our customers faced, was the high cost of shipping due to the large size containers that were needed for a very bulky item. Well, I can say we have listened carefully to everyone and have taken care of that!
So without further delay, let’s go into details:
Our new Website:
It's streamlined, faster and with a full E-commerce suite. We are ready for you. Not only will there be many more pictures than before, but a full on-line catalogue with FAQ’s (Frequently asked questions) for each product. Add to this automated SSL encrypted on-line Credit Card transactions and easier ways to choose your shipping method. Site is expected to be online 3rd week of January.
Distributors:
To this point the only way that you could acquire an Aimsworth cockpit was to purchase it directly from our factory in Thailand. Now we're going global! In the coming months, prior to the new product launches that begin in January, we will be working hard to add distributors near you! All the more easier for you to be able to try out our stuff and be amazed... ;)
Product line up (please note the expected launch date’s following each product):
The new Aimsworth VIPER I™ F-16 Cockpit Simulator:
The VIPER I™ kit is intended to enable the user to recreate an extremely realistic replica of the real F-16 Fighting Falcon cockpit, known affectionately by those that fly it as the Viper. So what is in the kit, you ask?
l A fuselage body section in four parts, extremely compact, very sturdy and easy to assemble. It even comes in military flat dark grey.
l A super realistic glare shield with monitor platform, in flat black.
l The complete interior, including floor and 100% accurate center panel/side consoles (Block 50/52) in flat light/dark grey and flat black (ICP).
l The ACES II ejection seat with a superbly detailed parachute container and pitot arms in flat light and dark grey and olive drab for the canvas parts.
l Launch: January 2002.
The following upgrades will be available:
l Pre-drilled Block 50/52 front panel, ready for all instruments, including our new MFD/ICP.
l A Block 15 center panel.
l ACES upgrade package 1: Includes a back plate for the seat that features 90% of all seat details on the backside.
l ACES upgrade package 2: In four parts - the ejection seat handle, arming lever, canopy release and a basic oxygen system part.
l ACES upgrade package 3: Includes complete oxygen system details for both sides of the seat.
l All instrument panels for the Block 50 made in full 3-D. Engraved and painted, ready to install user provided switches.
l The option to order our pit with a Guillemot™ Thrustmaster™ HOTAS Cougar™ built in. This is not a "simple cut and drill" thing, rather, thanks to special co-operation with Thrustmaster we can offer a realistic looking base for the Cougar. No more bulky metal case!
l A hyper-realistic glare shield with no monitor stand that has all details of the real thing - intended for a projection system or flat TV installations.
l Launch: All – January/February 2002
Aimsworth Viper MFD’s™:
The new MFD's (Multifunction Display’s) are 100% copies of the real thing (except for video). Fully programmable and with USB connection. The starter set will contain one MFD/ICP and one programming unit. Each MFD has 28 buttons. Additional MFD’s or an ICP can be easily plugged into the control unit.
Launch: February 2002
Aimsworth Viper ICP™:
The all new ICP (integrated control panel) is 100% true to scale and is fully programmable and is connected via USB. The ICP has 36 buttons and has to be connected to the PC via a programming unit.
Launch: February 2002
The all new Aimsworth VIPER II™:
This is a desktop version of a more generic fighter pit. It still resembles the F-16, but naturally less detailed. This budget minded 'pit is meant for the simmer that has limited space. The panels are built up around your desk, office chair and require very little room.
Launch: First or second quarter 2002.
The upgrades that will be available for the Viper II are:
l ACES II ejection seat, as well as all related seat upgrades. l An instrument sticker set.
l MFD's.
l ICP.
Aimsworth VIPER F-16™ rudder pedals:
A hyper-realistic (very heavy) F-16 rudder pedal, ready to connect with the HOTAS Cougar™. This is the "piece-dé-resistance". An Aimsworth EXCLUSIVE!
Launch: 2/3nd quarter 2002
.The new Aimsworth EAGLE F-15E™ pit:
This cockpit will be available as front seat only or with a WSO position for your backseater. Flying the upcoming F-15E in double seat configuration in Falcon V will be the coolest thing on the flight sim planet. Picture this: Flying with your buddy via the Internet, you in your Aimsworth Eagle front seat and your WSO in an Aimsworth WSO pit - halfway around the world. Exciting concept, don’t you think?
Launch: 3/4rd quarter 2002
Builder parts:
There are many flight simulation fans that enjoy the challenge of creating their own home grown cockpit - often from scratch. We definitely want to support these builders as well and make a long tough job quicker and easier. We will make many parts available separately for the homebuilder. The preliminary line up for January 2002:
l The basic ACES II seat.
l All upgrades to the seat.
l Block 15 center panel.
l Block 50/52 center panel drilled/not drilled.
l Realistic/Monitor glare shield.
Builder parts that will be available at a later stage:
l Fiberglas fuselage shell (cockpit area only!! ;-) ).
l Floor and side consoles.
l Canopy (Note - The cost for production is still way beyond what we feel is feasible for most users. Due to this reason, the canopy launch will be postponed till we have cheaper manufacturing methods available. We hope to solve these issues in the coming eight to ten months).
We hope that this “appetiser” has interested you and whetted your flight sim appetite. Prices are not yet available, unfortunately. Please have patience with us, we will be announcing them soon.
If you have any questions or comments concerning the new line up, please drop us a note at viper@aimsworth.com
