Rather macbre, eh? It always seems a bit ghoulish reading (or hearing) the final utterances of fellow human beings.
Every year in our "recurrent" training, we pick one accident (or incident) and examine every detail . This always includes the transcrpits from the CVR, and even after almost 18 years of doing such, it still leaves me with eerie feelings.
Some you feel a little disgusted with, like the KLM Capt. that took off with clearance in the Canary Islands, and subsequently ran into the Pan Am 747. But the ones that are just slugging along, doing their day by day routine (like the ValueJet crew, or more recently, the Alaska Airlines crew), and fate reaches out and smites them down...those I just feel compassion for.
Thanks for the link Coda, it serves to remind us that aviation can be a cruel mistress.
