Jam announced at the Free Falcon forums the release of BMS 2.0
Dear Falcon pilots, I suspect many of you have been anxiously awaiting the fruits of our labor for quite some time now.
However, trust me when I tell you that we, BMS developers AND talented modelers, skinners, and data gurus at Free Falcon, and others, have been waiting far more anxiously than you have. F4-BMS 2.0 represents the culmination of 6+ months of hard work.
The Ace Expansion Pack patch is finally available for download! This patch is only to be used on IL-2 Sturmovik: Forgotten Battles with the Ace Expansion Pack installed. As usual, it is recommended that you back-up your files prior to installing the patch in order to avoid any loss of data.
The new X52 represents a massive leap forward in flight control design, said Rob Handoll,Saitek Product Manager. We've taken the incredibly successful X45, re-engineered all the components and added a host of new features to take it to the next level. Quite simply, the X52 is the world's most realistic flight system.
Stang posted at the FO website that there will be a Training Area of Operations included in Fighter Ops:
just wanted to pass along that we have decided to include a Training Area of Operations in Fighter Ops, based out of Nellis Air Force Base Nevada.
Here pilots will report for duty, learn basic and advanced flying techniques and weapon(s) employment in several different aircraft before joining a squadron and being sent out for Combat Operations.
During your tour at Nellis you'll fly the T-6 for basic aircraft skills, the T-37 for basic "JET" skills to include entry level navigation, formation flying and basic advanced aircraft handling. From here you'll move to the T-38 for advanced aircraft skills then on to the AT-38 for basic combat flying skills. Finally you'll choose your squadron aircraft from the A-10, F-15 or F-16 and ship out to your squadrons Area of Operations for Campaign Combat Flying.
Stormin posted an update at the Ubisoft Lo-mac forums about the 1.02 patch.
We received Beta 12 of V1.02 on Friday and have been testing ever since. We had a marathon MP effort for 14 hours on Friday and have played several hours of single player and even more MP this afternoon.
This latest build is the best performance we have seen yet. All the testers are reporting better framerates and stability in both MP and single player.
There are a few bugs to report but they do not appear to be major problems. We have encountered a few random crashes but they have happened only after hours of extended MP with users leaving and then joining the session again later. These crashes are infrequent and cannot be reproduced.
Another problem is that one of the F-15C training missions is not working properly and we want to fix it. No real show stoppers but we have to fix that training mission.
There are a few minor glitches that we are trying to work out that are mostly cosmetic or very trivial.
We will continue testing through Sunday and will discuss the status of the patch with the Development Team in Moscow.
I am very optimistic about this build and hope that we can fix the remaining minor problems without major changes to the code so that we can begin the process of final review by Ubi Soft.
Again, I caution everyone to not get your hopes too high as anything can happen. The patch will be released after testing and final approval by Ubi Soft. At that time it still will require procedures for it to be set up for distribution on Ubi's FTP servers and the various mirror sites.
Please remain patient. I know you all want an exact release date but I can't give you one. We want this patch finished and released more than anyone, but we want it to be done correctly and the final evaluation and distribution is up to Ubi Soft.
In case none of you have seen in one of Matt's postings, he reports that there will be no CD checking routine with this patch.
G2Interactive proudly announces that the first "Area of Operations" for Fighter Ops will be the Middle East with it's associated countries, real world struggles and unpredictable combat operations.
This Hot Spot of world tension provides a unique environment to integrate the realistic operations of the worlds main Air, Naval and Ground Forces, mixed with an unfriendly environment that includes rapidly changing conditions and situations.

eDimensional, creator of the critically acclaimed Voice Buddy and E-D glasses, is pleased to announce the release of the TrackIR 3 flight sim head tracker. The TrackIR 3™ is the perfect enhancement for gamers and simmers looking for a competitive edge and an enhanced virtual reality experience. Imagine controlling your field of view in flight simulators and many other types of games by simply looking around!
The TrackIR™ device is a high-performance head tracking system that enables hands free view control in popular games and simulators such as MS Flight Simulator 2004 , Lock On: Modern Air Combat, IL2 Sturmovik: Forgotten Battles, and many more. A slight turn of the pilot's head causes their in-game view to pan in any direction, independent of mouse, keyboard, and joystick commands. Look out windows and around the cockpit as if you were in a real plane!
TrackIR 3™ - Standard The TrackIR 3™ is the new entry level head tracking system, delivering maximum value. Based on a new image processor, TrackIR 3™ has 67% more resolution and improved optical performance that allows it to work in direct sunlight, delivering a truly immersive experience!
TrackIR 3 - Pro™ The TrackIR 3-Pro™ is the premium product, the best optical head tracking system available. Blazing along at a refresh rate of 120fps, TrackIR3-Pro™ is 50% faster than the TrackIR 3™ (80fps), and 4 times faster than a standard WebCam (30fps). Based on a new image processor, TrackIR 3-Pro™ has 67% more resolution and improved optical performance that allows it to work in direct sunlight, delivering a performance difference that will rock your view! TrackIR 3-Pro™ is the best optical head tracker that money can buy.
HIGHER RESOLUTION Both TrackIR 3™ and TrackIR 3-Pro™ have a new resolution of 101,000 pixels, an increase of 67% over previous models. This means more precise and smoother motion, and steadier aiming than ever before. Draw and maintain a steady bead on your enemy, and keep them precisely within your sights.
INCREASED OPTICAL PERFORMANCE AND RANGE Both TrackIR 3™ models allow the user a greater range of motion, letting them sit wherever they want. TrackIR 3™ and TrackIR 3-Pro™ are now sunlight resistant, performing reliably in direct sunlight thanks to new hardware components. You no longer have to dim the lights, or worry about reflections from windows or mirrors interfering with the tracking.
WHY UPGRADE? If you want to have the best view control system available, then you must get a TrackIR 3™ or TrackIR 3-Pro™ today. All of the enhancements in TrackIR 3™ will result in an improved gaming experience, taking your immersion and competitive advantage to a new level. Both new TrackIR 3™ models have 67% more resolution than previous models, and the TrackIR 3-Pro™ is 20% faster than a TrackIR2™. Finally, the improved sunlight resistance allows you to use a TrackIR™ wherever you please.
MY GAME ONLY RUNS AT 60FPS, SO WHY DO I NEED 120FPS? An increased TrackIR™ frame rate creates more sample points, delivering smoother and more precise motion independent of your game's refresh rate. It ensures that both the quickest and most subtle head movements are perfectly tracked. It allows the TrackIR™ to stay ahead of the game.
Hornet from the Falcon Community website has just posted an interview with CobraCab of the BMS Group regarding the next BMS release for Falcon 4.0. Here's a little taste:
Jam is teasing us with screenies for quite some time now. Can you give us some details on what to expect ? How big is the changelog ? Can you mention some of the key features, which are likely to be included in the next release ?
Our change log is well over 100 pages by now. Our manual is well over 150 pages. It will essentially be split up into two sections: 1. features and additions 2. technical documents I think it's fair to say that the manual will be one of the more technical manuals you'll likely see. Here's a couple examples: We'll have a complete "how to" for building your own real cockpit We'll describe the particle explosions in super detail Also, there will be descrptions of the sound code changes, and flight model changes, and of course the 2 engine code Plus, there's been tons of fixes / additions to the avionics systems for the F-15, F-18, F-14, and of course the F-16 These are along the lines of hud enhancements, mfd enhancemenets and advnaced input support. Hehe, it's a very long list.
