SimHQ Article

27/1 at 13:41 by HotDogOne

SimHQ's Andy Bush and Leon Smith have posted an excellent article on the scissors

heres a quote from SimHQ
To scissor or not to scissor...that is the question! In this article, Andy Bush and Leon "Badboy" Smith introduce you to the academics of this maneuver and then walk you through how to fly it in your favorite simulation. The emphasis is on view management and good BFM...we'll show you how to get into the maneuver, stay in it long enough to gain an advantage, or how to get out of it if the need arises.

G2i Update

19/1 at 16:18 by HotDogOne

This was written by 'Shadow' from G2i on the forums:

IG and the source code
The exe edits performed by the F4UT were authorized by G2 Interactive under a copyright agreement with the participants.

There are no more exe edits authorized after SP3. We are too deep in changes to the OIR exe to incorporate any additional third party code changes. It would create incompatability between SP4 and OIR and we pledged to support the F4UT enhancements.

There will be a new graphics engine for OIR.

For those of you who wrote to g2I in the past few days and didn't receive a reply please resend your emails if you want one. We suffered a disk crash on the mail server.

I hope the helps clear up some misunderstanding.

There will be an update to our website on Tuesday (USA time)

Falcon 4 Designers Notes

13/1 at 12:31 by Frugal

Whilst tidying up my hard drive I discovered a copy of the original Falcon 4 Designers notes. I have posted these note for nostalgia/history purposes. In light of what is going on today with Falcon V I thought it interesting that the F4 notes starts with

First of all, reports of our death have been greatly exaggerated. We have been working for about a year now, and we have made great progress. At this point, we have aircraft flying, missiles and guns firing, bombs dropping and planes being destroyed in the sim. The campaign has an integrated air-land battle going on, including fully developed strike packages with SEAD, escort, strike, ECM and recon flights included.

You can read the F4 Designers Notes HERE
